ドイツで一番売れているピルスナーといったら、これ、ヴァルシュタイナーです。ホームタウンのヴァルシュタインは森と湖に囲まれたライン川東岸の町で、ここに超近代的な施設を有して、大麦とハラタウホップでビールづくりをしています。

The biggest-selling Pilsner in Germany comes from the Warsteiner Brewery. The town of Warstein is in an area woods and lakes to the east of the Rhine and Ruhr. The ultra modern brewery is coy about its ingredient, saying nothing more than barley ,alt and Hallertau hops.

It is limited brewing with high quality malt from Champagne district, France and hops “Nelson Sauvin”. A little bit pale golden colour with pure white foam and VERY nice aroma which Mr. Joël Robuchon, the maestro of French cuisine, also accepts. 

Spaten from Germany

シュパーテンは1397年創業の歴史ある醸造所ですが、1894年にミュンヘン初の淡色ラガービール（＝下面発酵ビール）を発明、醸造した本家として有名です。シュパーテン（Spaten）とは鋤という意、ラベルに描かれた麦芽を撹拌するためのシャベルがシンボルマークです。一方、この地方でライバルであるパウラナー醸造所（参照→http://beer-a-holic.blogspot.jp/2012/12/paulaner-from-germany.html）が、その後1920～1930年にかけて、自分たちが淡色ラガービールを普及したと主張しています。

Spaten Brewery is a historical brewery which was established in 1397 and is famous as the first invested lager beer (bottom fermentation type beer). The name of Spaten means "Spade". Its symbol is a malt shovel but the name is also a humorous reference to a former owner of the brewery called Späth.

Holsten from Germany

ホルステンはハンブルグを拠点とする地ビールでしたが、いち早く（エールが主体の）イギリスにラガービールを普及させた会社です。4.9％ダイエットビールはホルステンビールの一番名の通ったブランドですが、元々、ダイエットビールとは麦芽糖と炭水化物を減じた糖尿病患者向けのビールで、イギリスでは減量（ダイエット）向けと勘違いされたため、その後、このダイエットという文字がラベルから削除されるようになった逸話があります。

Holsten Brauerei first began trading in the UK in the late 19th Century when they purchased a brewery in Wandswirth London. Holsten Pils was first imported into the UK in 1952 thus creating the premium packaged lager market.
Holsten's best-known beer abroad is the 4.9 percent Diät Pils. It is fully attenuated to brew out the malt sugars and low in carbohydrate is suitable for diabetics. Diät was confused with diet in UK and drinkers thought it was a beer suitable for slimmers. Thus, Holsten has now removed Diät from the British label.

Löwenbräu from Germany

日本国内でも有名なビールではないでしょうか？レーベンブロイ（ドイツ語で獅子のビールという意）は1383年にZum Löwen（獅子の宿屋）の主が初めて醸造した歴史あるビールです。オクトーバーフェストで出すことを許される6つの醸造所の1つでもあります。そのオクトーバーフェストではレーベンブロイは「草原のビール」を意味するアルコール度数低めのWiesenbierが販売されます。

Löwenbräu was established in 1383 by the owner of "Zum Löwen", which means Lion Inn in German. One of the breweries that are allowed to serve beer at Oktoberfest. the brewery serves special version beer, whose name is "Wiesenbier", means Prairie Beer in German at the festival.
