Hoegaarden Grand Cru from Belgium

これは、ヒューガルテンの白ビールに似ますが、大麦麦芽から作られるビールで、非常にしっかりした味で特に泡が全てまんまるで大きさも揃っていて、とてもきれいと記録しています。

Hoegaarden Drand Cru is also similar to white beer but it is made from Barley malts.

Hoegaarden Witbier from Belgium

ヒューガルテンの白ビールです。日本でもよく目にします。ごっついビールグラスでいただきます。

当時の自分のコメントを見ると”うまくない”とありますが、ビールコレクションを開始した当初（2003年暮れ）で、まだビールの世界にノックしたばかりの頃、何も知らなかったんですね。今は白ビール大好きです。

白ビールは小麦でつくる白濁したビールで何とも言えない甘みがよく、レモンを絞ると尚良いです。1700年代には白ビールの産地であるヒューガルテンには30以上の醸造所がありましたが、1954年にその全てが閉鎖されました。白ビールを懐かしむ声にピエール・セリス氏は立ち上がり、白ビールを復活させました。

Hoegaarden Witbier (=White Beer) can be seen at Japanese beer shops. It should be served in a heavy and chunky glass.

According to my comment at that time, it was noted "not so good taste" but I like it now. Probably, I did not know the beer when it was just knocked the door of beer world.

White beer is made from wheat and it looks muddied white colour with something fruit sweet. It may be better to drink with lemon.

There were more than 30 white beer breweries in Horgaarden but all disappeared in 1954. Mr. Pierre Celis decided to brew white beer in 1960's. It is the Hoegaarden Witbier.

ヒューガルテン（Hoegaarden）と言えば、白ビールで有名な産地ですが、Dasのように他の種類のビールもあります。何の系統か記録していませんが、ブラウン系のコクのあるビールと記録しています。4～6℃で飲みなさいとありますので、結構冷やして飲むタイプです。

Talking of Hoegaarden, it is White beer production area, but another kind of beer such as Das are also produced.

Trapistes Rochefort from Belgium

ナミュール州アンデンヌのロシュフォールという小さな町にある修道院が作るビールです。正式には、Norte-Dame de St-Remy（ノートルダムセントレミー）といい、あまり知られていない修道院です。3種類あり、それぞれ6,8,10とアルコール度数、味も異なりオリジナリティあふれる風味になっています。あまりキンキンに冷やさず、12～14℃の温度で頂くのがオススメです。

このロシュフォールだけでなく、ベルギーのいくつかの修道院では、ビールの他にソフトでクリーミーなチーズを作っています。

Rochefort is not so well-known abbey beer and consists of 3 kinds of beer, that are numbered 6,8 and 10. Some of the trappist brewers also sell soft and creamy cheeses including some made with their beers.

Wilson from Belgium

エールタイプのビールです。Ertveldeはアントワープとブルージュの道中にある地域で、エールビールが盛んな地域の一つです。

ベルギーエールは2度の大戦で駐屯していたイギリス軍の置き土産で、現在もイギリスビール会社のライセンスで生産している醸造所が多いです。

Ertvelde locates between Antwerp and Brugge. Talking Ertvelde, it is one of the famous ale type beer production. Belgian ale is affected by British armies who stationed in Belgium when World War I and II were occurred and some of breweries produce ale based on the instruction by British breweries.

Stella Artois from Belgium

ベルギーで一番名の知れたビールです。ステラ　アルトワはクリスマスビールとして世界で初めて商業化されたビールです。歴史も古く1366年創業、セバスチャン・アルトワ氏が見習いとして入社し、その後オーナーになったのが1717年。氏の孫であるレオナルドが事業を飛躍的に拡大させました。1926年にこのステラ　アルトワが発表され、ベルギーを代表するビール会社として不動のものにしました。

Stella Artois was brewed first as a Christmas beer. "Stella" means star in Latin and early advertisements showed the beer against a background of the Christmas Star. The beer became so popular that it was soon brewed all the year round.

Stella Artois traces its origins to the Den Horen (the Horn) tavern that brewed beer from 1366. Mr. Sebastien Artois was an apprentice brewer at Den Horen, graduated as a master brewer and bought the brewery in 1717. His grandson Leonard expanded the business and bought 2 rival companies in Leuven. Den Horen Artois became one of majour commercial breweries in Europe. The company achieved greater fame and fortune in 1926 when it brewed Pils-style beer, Atella Artois, that is now Belgium's best-known.

Bush from Belgium

ベルギーで最も強いビールはDubuissonと呼ばれるワロニア地方の小さな醸造所で作られています。Dubbuissonとはフランス語でBush（ブッシュ）の意味です。Bushはアメリカでも販売されていますが、名前はベルギーの川の名前（Scheldt）から引用してScaldis（スカルディス）と言う名前になっています。これは、大手バドワイザーのブッシュ（Busch）と混乱しないようにとの配慮からです。

The strongest beer in Belgium is brewed by a small company in Wallonia called Dubuisson. Dubuisson is a former farm in Pipaix. Dubuisson stands for Bush in French.

It was Anglicised in the 1930's to cash in on the popularity of strong ales in Belgium.

It is sold in USA as Scaldis, the Latin name for the majour Belgian river, the Scheldt, to avoid confusion with Busch beer brewed by Budweiser.

Biere du Boucanier Golden Ale from Belgium

コミカルなデザインのラベルは店頭ですぐに目に飛び込んできました。海賊の絵がいかにも強そうなビールを連想させ、納得の11.0％。ゆっくり楽しむタイプです。

It is eye catcher design at the shop due top the comical design label. The pirate picture associates me strong beer. Actually 11% alcohol!

ブラックタン

ピルスナータイプにポーターの様な黒ビールを合わせ、2層にしたビールをブラックタンと呼ぶそうです。

ちなみにタンとは褐色を意味するそうですが、多分、英語ではTun（黒い樽）だと思います。
