これは、ベルギーでもおなじみのビールで、あちこちに白い手の看板を見ることができます。当時の私は味が薄いとコメントしていますが、それゆえに飲みやすく、メジャーなのではないでしょうか？歴代のオーナーは周辺の”提案”に聞き入れることなく、かたくなにエールを貫き通し、醸造過程に砂糖（発酵促進）を使用することなく、麦芽100％のビールにこだわっています。

De Koninck means "The King". The brewery began life in 1833 as a brewer pub and its owners have resisted any suggestion that they should move from ale to lager. No sugars are used in brewing process.

Duvel from Belgium

Duvelとはフランダース語で悪魔を意味し、ぞっとする名前のビールですが、既にご紹介したMort Subite（突然死）のように、奇抜な名前のビールがベルギービールの特徴の一つです。
記録には白ビールとありますが、ストロングゴールデンエールの部類です。私がトライしたのはごく初期の頃で、まだビールの世界をよく知らない時のコメントです。

Duvel means "Devil" in Flemish. The name is said to have been inspired by a brewery workers who tasted it when it was first brewed and declared. "This is a Devil of a good beer". The name is less menacing than the Gueuze Mort Subite which means "Sudden Death".
Although I noted it is a kind of white beer, it seems to belong to Strong Golden Ale.

コルセンドンクはベルギー修道院ビールの一種で、1398年に始まり、1784年に閉じられました。1982年に、このコルセンドンクブランドは再び大手ベルギービール会社で復活されました。白ビール系で、レモンのさわやかさとありますが、当時の私は底まで見抜けなかったようです。記録を見ると"not so bad"と記述しており、まだ白ビールの良さを分かっていなかったと思われます。

トラピストビールとは、修道院で醸造されているビールを指し、世界で7か所のみです。それ以外の修道院ビール（実際は、そのレシピに基づいて、ビール会社が醸造しているもの）はアビイビールと表現されます。
さて、このビールはどちらでしょうか？トラピストビールの一つにウェストフレテレン（シント・スクスティス修道院）がありますが、この修道院は商売っ気がほとんどなく、訪問者にしか販売しませんし、ビール醸造も不定期です。一方、近くのセント・ベルナンデュス醸造所と委託契約をし、ライセンス生産されたのが、このビールです。

Talking of Trappist, there are 7 only breweries in the world. The beer where is brewed in monastery can be described as Trappist beer. The rest of "Trappist" type beer should be described as Abbey Beer. By the way, is the beer, St. Bernardus, can be described Trappist beer? The answer is No, because the beer is brewed by commissioning from St. Sixtus, the brand name is Westvleteren.

Jupiler from Belgium

ステラ　アルトワ（http://beer-a-holic.blogspot.com/2010/07/stella-artois-from-belgium.html）と同じく、ベルギーを代表するピルスナービールが、このジュピラーです。この2大ビールは1980年代に合併し、今では巨大醸造会社インターブリューの傘下です。ピートボーフ家が1853年に設立したジュピラーは、ステラ　アルトワにあるようなホップの効きを控えめに、ソフトで飲みやすい味にしたことで、ピルスナービールとしてはベルギー1の消費量になりました。

Jupiler and Stella Artois come from the giant Interbrew group, the result of a 1980's merger between Stella Artois of Leuven and Piedboeuf of Jupille-sur-Meuse near Liege. Jupiler is the biggest-selling Pilsner in Belgium. The Piedboeuf family founded its brewery in 1853 in Jupille. Jupiler's rise to popularity is impressive as it was launched as recently as 1966. It is an easy-drinking, soft, malt-accented beer lacking the hop character of Stella.
