ドイツはフランコニア地方の古都バンベルクは北のベニスと呼ばれる水の都でもあり、ここの特徴的なビールがラオホビールと呼ばれる燻製ビールです。大麦麦芽をブナのチップで燻したスモークモルトにして造られます。ラオホビールの代表種、エッヒト　シュレンケルラは本当に燻製の香りがする衝撃的なビールです。
