オランダ語特有のアルファベットにijがあります。発音はアイで、またＩｊとはオランダ語で「ダチョウの卵」の意味があります。このアイ醸造所はアムステルダムの港にある銭湯を改装して作られたパブ併設の醸造所です。オランダでは有名なのではないかと思いますが、シンガーソングライターのカスパー・ピーターソンによって開かれ、自分がここで醸造所を開くまではアムステルダムはビール砂漠であったと言い放ち、ラベルにもこだわりのデザインが垣間見えます。パブの開店時間も水曜日から日曜日の午後3時から8時までと変にこだわっています。

't IJ was founded in 1984 in a converted bathhouse in the city's dockland by songwriter Kasper Peterson. IJ is the waterway fronts of Amsterdam harbour and the pronunciation is IJ is "ay". It is virtually identical to the Dutch for egg, which explains the ostrich and an egg on the pub sign. In the sign's background, a windmill standing in a desert suggests that Amsterdam was beer desert until Kasper started to brew.

 Its brewery tap only opens from 15:00 to 20:00 from Wednesday to Sunday but, all of the beers regularly on draught. It's a golden opportunity to sample beers which are all too hard to find elsewhere. To add the fun, the bar has collection of 2,000 empty beer bottles from all over the world. Food is limited to drinkers' snacks, but children are welcome and there are selection of board games to keep them happy.

Alfa Edel Pils from The Netherlands

アルファ醸造所はオランダリンブルグ州にある小さくも独立系の醸造所です。アルファエーデルピルスとはアルファ醸造所の崇高なピルスナーという意、いかにも独立系のこだわりを感じさせる名前です。
フランス産とオランダ産の麦芽とハラタウ、ザーツ、テトナングのホップをふんだんに使って2か月醸造して造られるピルスナーです。その割には軽めの味ですが、炭酸はキッチリ効いています。

Alfa is a small independent brewery in Limburg. Its Edel Pils means Noble Pils and brewed by French and Dutch malts with hops of Hallertau, Saatz and Tettnang and lagered for 2 months.

Jopen Adriaan Witbier from The Netherlands

15世紀から続くヨペンのアドリアーンホワイトビールです。
当時はホップではなく種々のハーブを配合して造られたグルートを香りづけにして醸造されていたので、それをかたくなに踏襲するも、アドリアーンで使われたグルートを使用したくちあたりソフトにしたバージョンです。

Jopen Adriaan Witbier is brewed as a lighter version of gruit beer. Gruit was popular before hops and mixed several kinds of herbs and the content must be confidential. The herbss used in Adriaan contribute in the reflreshing taste of Adriaan.

Gulpener from The Netherlands

オランダ南部の都市マーストリヒト郊外のグルペン村にあるこのグルペナーは思い出深いビールです。グルペナーコーレンウォルフはオランダで最高の白ビールと謳っていましたが、それまで白ビールを飲んだことが無かった（忘れもしない2003年初頭です）私はあまりのまずさに全部飲まずに流しに捨ててしまいました。その後、ビールをいろいろ知るようになり、2007年に改めてトライしてみたところ、能書き通り、最高の白ビールと再認識したことを鮮明に覚えています。また、欧州駐在後期、日本帰国間近の頃、オランダからルクセンブルクに車で移動の際、ベルギー国境近いマーストリヒト郊外で、このネズミマークがでかでかと壁に描かれた醸造所を発見。立ち寄ればよかったなあと後悔が今も続いています。

Gulpener is local crafts beer in Gulpen village near Maastricht. There are several kinds of beer and my most memorial one is Gulpener Korenwolf. It is white beer type but I had not tried yet at that time ( it was in 2003!), therefore I could not accept and understand the taste, thus I did not drink all and threw to the sink!! Retrialed in 2007 when I returned to Japan and I realized it is the best of white beer. :-) It was in 2006 when I was about to return to Japan, I went to Maastricht then found out the brewery but I did not come by. It is still my regret.

卍 Mugishizuku Beer

下北半島ではレアな醸造所に出会いました。

マグロで有名な青森県大間町にある本州最北の醸造所であり、なんとお寺がビールを醸造しています。
その名も梅香山（ばいこうざん）崇徳寺（そうとくじ）の卍・麦雫です。
ナビってもなかなか場所がわからず、電話しても応答がなく、探し出すのに苦労しました。
いったんは訪問あきらめましたが、なんと携帯に返信ありました。
部落の会合で空けていたため電話に出られなかったとのことですが、丁寧に電話応対いただきました。
永く工事中となっているホームページでは醸造所見学可能のようでしたが、残念ながら、今は見学NGとのこと。
直売所があるとのことなので、そこに行きたいと伝えると、お寺の裏が直売所とのこと。

しかし、実際に行ってみるとあったのは自動販売機1台だけ。
なんと、レアな味のある醸造所でしょう。
6種類ありますが、スタウトは醸造中とのこと。リンゴビール以外の4種をゲットしました。
各々のビールは後ほど紹介したいと思いますが、どれもクラフトビールとしてなかなかいい味を出しており、寛永から続くお寺ですが、さぞかし、住職は他の道（醸造の世界）に行きたかったのに行かれなかったのではと、機会があれば、是非、いろいろとお話を伺いたくなる醸造所でした。

下北半島は大間町奥戸地区に大間町唯一の縄文遺跡小川代遺跡があります。
その地に位置し、寛永の昔から法灯を継承する寺院があります。

その名は梅香山 崇徳寺。

ヒバ、ブナ混交林が大地を覆う下北半島国定公園にあって、霊場恐山山系の裾野に門を構える崇徳寺境内には、太古から昏々と湧き出る霊水が存在する。
霊水は地域の文化を潤し、縄文の昔からゆるやかな時の流れを享受しながら住民の母なる恵みとし地域の安寧（あんねい）を見届けて来ました。
今後も弛まなく続いていくであろう未来への布石の如く、この地に満々と有り続けるであろう。

そんな素晴らしい命の水が、この地に存在することを人々に知ってもらうことを考えました。

そこで、おいしい水を全面に押し出すことのできる製品として、「卍・麦雫（むぎしずく）」と、
「縄文の水 BEY」は生まれたのです。

「卍・麦雫（むぎしずく）」は霊水を仕込水として醸造したビールと発泡酒です。清涼感のある喉越しとコクの豊かなビールです。
「縄文の水 BEY」は霊水をそのままパックしました。

Hakodate Beer Restaurant

9月上旬に函館と下北半島の旅に行きました。
もちろん、地元のブリュワリーに行き、その先は函館ビールさんです。
あいにく到着した初日が水曜日で休館日でしたので、最終日、帰路の最終フライト前に飛び込んでいきました。

時間が無かったので、1杯だけ。
ペールエールを注文しましたが、日本の嗜好に合うようにしているのか、スッキリ系のキンキンに冷えたペールエールがサーブされました。

ビールヲタクにはちょっと物足りないかも知れませんが、その場で醸造された新鮮なビールが飲めるとあって、雰囲気で楽しむには十分な場所と思います。

Gouverneur from The Netherlands

このブロンドは私の失点で、早く飲みたいと冷凍庫で急速冷蔵したつもりが、それを忘れてしまい、そのまま出張。
いったん凍らせたものを解凍したビールほどまずいものは無いですが、私の妻によりますと、「そんなに悪くなかったよ。」
あれから、このブロンドに再会することなく10年が経過しました。

It is my quite regret that I had kept Gouverneur Blond in freezer in order to cool asap, but I forgot it then went to biz trip. :-0
There is no terrible beer than defrosted ones.
My wife tried it but it was not so bad according to her.
More than 10 years have been passed after that and I have not come across the brand. :-(
