Royal from Denmark

ロイヤルビールはデンマークの大手カールスバーグとツボルグに押されている感ありますが、なかなかいいビールを作っています。最初に飲んだロイヤルセレクションがよかったので、結局、当時（デンマーク駐在時）の全種類踏破しました。


The Royal series is Royal Unibrew's flagship in the Danish beer market. Three in four Danes are familiar with Royal. The first product in the series was luxury beer Royal Export, launched in 1985. The Royal series also includes Pilsner, Classic, Selection, Stout, Red and Xmas.

Maribo Guldøl from Denmark

コペンハーゲンの南、ロラン島中心部にいちするマリボの地ビールです。1895年にソーア醸造所として設立されましたが、その後、同名の醸造所が国内にあり、混乱を避けるために、マリボ醸造所に改めました。深みのあるなかなかいい味の地ビールです。


It is from Maribo where is center of Lolland Island, south of Copenhagen.Maribo Bryghus was founded in 1895 by Mr. Christian Jørgensen as Thor Bryggeri, but it was renamed in 1905 to Maribo Bryghus to avoid condusion with the Thor Brewery in Randers. Maribo Bryghus was acquired by Albani Brewery.

工場直送のプレモル The Premium Malts direct-delivered from the beer factory

The Premium Malts from Suntory is my favorite beer in Japan. My "Queen" subscribed many time then it won at last.
Instantly, it was tasted last night.
Although I suppose the taste is rich malts' aroma, not so much but strongly sharped hops' bitter taste.
Anyway, nice and Thanks Suntory!

It was actually busy for this two last months, thus I could not up anything beer introduction.
I will try again to up in this year end holidays.


私が日本のビールでは、このプレミアムモルツが一番好きで、私の”Queen”がせっせと何やら応募していました。どうせ、当たるわけないだろうと思っていたら、当たりました。工場直送のプレモルです。
早速味見をしてみました。
花から抜ける麦芽の香りを期待しておりましたが、それほどでもなく、むしろ、ホップの苦さがバッチリ効いていました。
この11～12月は無茶苦茶忙しく、ブログをアップしている余裕がなかったですが、年末年始休暇には多少できるかな？

Kohn Kaen Beer from Thailand

I came across Thai local beer whose name is Khon Kaen Beer tonight.
It is good malts' aroma and smooth to drink.
Although I tried to take bottle and crown, not existence and no brand logo, label and official website.
I suppose it is actually rared one.


タイ出張で東北の最大都市コンケーンに滞在中にレアな地ビールに遭遇しました。
麦の香りがしっかりしたピルスナータイプでした。
ビンか何かあるかと思いましたが、存在せず、ロゴもウェブサイトもなく、本当にレアなビールではないでしょうか？

Westvleteren

My Dutch colleague informed me the special rared Belgian beer, The Westvleteren Trappist.
It is sold exclusively at the abbey store and only after having made a reservation by telephone.
Woo, I somehow would like to try to drink one day...

これは、本当に本当のレアなビールです。事前予約を入れたうえで、修道院直売所でしか入手できないそうです。
くー、飲んでみたい・・・。

Souvenir from Chinese colleague －中国からのお土産－

 今日（11/6）、中国の仕事仲間が来日した。お土産だとビールのラベルと王冠が丁寧にビニール袋に個別に入れて手渡された。
自分のビール趣味が口伝に広がっているようで、今回も中国国内方々出張した先で集めていただいた。
なんとも頭の下がる思いです。
特に画像下から2番目は新疆ウイグル自治区のローカルビールでWusuは中心都市ウルムチのものだそうです。
すっげー、レアなビールをありがとう。
感謝感謝です。


My Chinese colleague arrived at Japan for his business trip today and handed me some plastic bags. Some Chinese local beer labels and crowns are inside.
Especially Wusu Beer, which is from Wulumuqi, XinJinag Uygur Autonmous Region, is actually rare local beer.
One day, I would like to go there and try it.

The strongest beer in the world アルコール度数60％のビール？

オランダのスタッフが知ってるか？とメールしてきた記事を見ると・・・？？？
アルコール度数60％のビール？？？
オランダのヤン・ナイボーエル氏が醸造したとあるが、これはもう、他の追随を許さない最強ビールだ。価格も35ユーロ（＝約4,000円）/瓶（330ml）で最強だ！

My co-worker informed me the strongest beer in the world. Believe or not, it is 60% alcohol and served at 't Koelschip, The NL brewed by Jan Nijboer. The price is also unbelievable, EUR35 per a bottle.

The strongest beer I know so far is Samichlaus, however the record is replaced by it.

Old Gambrinus Beer from Denmark

先ほどのHancock Blackと同じ会社のものです。タイプ的にはドッペルボックといって、冬～春にかけて体を温めるために飲むビール。よって、アルコール度数も高いです。ドッペルはドイツ語でダブルの意。よって、より強力です。あまりキンキンに冷やさず9℃前後で飲みます。


It is brewed by Hankock Beer same with the previous introduction beer. It is Doppel Bock type which is a beer to be warm in winter to spring season. Therefore the alcohol is higher than common one. Doppel stands for Double in German, thus the alcohol is further stronger. Such beer should not be chilled but served at 9C for drink.

さて、デンマークのビールに戻します。カールスバーグに匹敵するくらい有名なツボルグです。1873年設立、ドイツで研究をしていたハンス・ベッケフォルトを招聘して1875年にペールラガーを開発、販売開始、その後、様々なビールを発表しますが、1970年にカールスバーグの傘下に入ります。
しかし、現在もツボルグブランドは健在です。
どうでもいい事ですが、私がコペンハーゲン郊外のヘラルップに住んでいた頃の家は、元ツボルグの醸造所後を造成したアパートメントで、大きなツボルグビールのモニュメントがあります。何かの縁です。


Well, let's get down to Danish beers. The next one is Tuborg, which is the famous brand same with Carlsberg. Tuborg was founded in 1873. The brewery launched a pale lager in 1875, the result of research in Germany by head brewer Hans Bekkevold. Its main pale beers today are in the same strength range as Carlsberg's. Tuborg was acquired by Carlsberg in 1970, however the brand name, Tuborg, is kept to print on the label.

Ndovu Special Malt from Tanzania

ケニアからの”出張報告”をいただいた直後に、同行された方より、うれしいお土産をいただきました。タンザニアのビールです。これは、レアですよ。キンキンに冷やしていただきましたが、ホップの苦みが程よく、泡もクリーミーで真っ白。さぞかし、暑いところで飲んだら、なおうまいでしょう。


It is actually unexpected "happy" for me because I got a souvenir, Tanzania beer. Believe or not, Africa was the birthplace of brewing. Now, Pilsner type is the most popular in Africa, It is also very nice taste of African Pilsner. Happy!

Kenya beers

My colleague went to Kenya recently and sent me some images of Kenya beers as "business trip report".
I think it is the best of his reports so far. :-)


欧州に赴任している会社の仲間が最近ケニアに行ったようで、ご覧の現地のビールの画像を送ってくれました。気候が乾燥しており、非常にうまかったとのこと。いいなあ。
ラベルがいかにも・・・という感じです。

Jacobsen Saaz Blonde from Denmark

ヤコブセン・サーズ・ブロンド。ベルギー風上面発酵ビール。チェコ産サーズの麦芽使用で、いいとこ取りの特別醸造です。


Jacobsen Saaz Blonze is brewed according to Belgian traditions for light  top-fermented beers - "Blonde" is the traditional French word for light-coloured beers. The distinguished Czech malt Saaz with its aroma of pine needles gives a rounded arisocratic flavour. Extract of angelica adds a hint of juniper flavour to complement the fruity taste of the yeast. The colour comes from the Pilsner malt characteristic of the Belgian "blonde" tradition, and from a touvh of caramel malt, which adds a slight sweetness.

Semper Adens Carlsberg First Gold I.P.A from Denmark

カールスバーグの特別醸造版で今は醸造中止になっているものです。I.P.Aとはインディアン・ペールエール（Indian Pale Ale）の略でビールの一種、その昔イギリスがインド向けに輸出したもので、長期間の輸送に耐えられるよう、アルコール度数高く、腐敗を避けるためホップを多くしたものです。ともあれ、ただでさえ物価の高いデンマークでなんだこれっ！というほど高価なビールでした（700ml入りで49.5デンマーククローネ＝約850円（当時のレート））。


First Gold is named after a characteristic type of hops, which gives this new Semper Ardens a fresh spicy aroma marked by dry apricot and notes of light smokyness. The flavour finishes with an intense bitterness caused by the big dosage of hops, which is elegantly balanced by the burtonised brew-water, water with the same salt and mineral composition as in the English Burton-on-Trent. The beer is brewed on English ale malt from Lothian & amp; Borders at the border of England and Scotland. Together with a touch of caramel malts this gives First Gold a light butty brown colour and a touch of nuts, which harmonize with melonish fruit-flavour. Enjoy the beer at 6-8 degree Celcius.

The price is very expensive. It is 0.7L bottle size and the price is DKK49.50! Less foam, beautiful crystal amber colour. The taste is deep and good balanced. Special brewed one.

Carlsberg from Denmark

デンマークを代表するブランド、カールスバーグです。創業者のクリスチャン・ヤコブセンは元々ユトランド半島で農業を営んでいましたが、1801年、コペンハーゲンに移り住みます。当時、上面発酵が主流であったデンマークで、下面発酵の新しいビール（ラガービール）が主流になりつつある時期。科学技術が新しいビールを可能にすると、ミュンヘンのスパーテンビールに研修に行かせていた彼の息子ヤコブ・クリスチャン・ヤコブセンを呼び戻し、ビール作りを始めます。1845年に再度息子を酵母を得るためドイツに行かせますが、冷やした状態で酵母を持ちかえるため、何度も井戸水を交換、数週間かけて持ち帰えり、ラガービールの醸造に成功したという逸話があります。ヤコブはその後、より大きな醸造所を建設、その場所が丘（デンマーク語でバーグ）で、ヤコブの息子の名前（カール）にちなんで、カールスバーグとなりました。カールスバーグはビール醸造に限らず、慈善事業も展開、また美術館も立ちあげました。デンマークで有名な人魚姫の像も彼が寄贈したものです。


Talking of Danish beer, it's Carlsberg. Mr. Cristian Jacobsen, the founder of Carlberg brewery, was a farmer in Jutland then transferred to CPH (Copenhagen) in 1801.The trend of beer was about to be replaced top fermentation style by lower fermentation style at that time. Thus he was convinced that science and technology must to be possible the new style beer then sent Jacob Crostian Jacobsen, his son to SPATEN brewery in Munich for his study and started brewery when he came back. Jacob went to Germany again in 1845 in order to get yeast. It was actually hard trip as it took for 6 months and the yeast should be kept cool for the quality therefore he was obliged to keep it cool with underground water. Finally he succeeded to brew the new style beer (lager beer) as Danish commercialized brand then established bigger brewery at the new land. The beer brand was named "Carlsberg" from the new land was at Berg which is hill in Danish and Carl which is Jacob's son name. By the way, it is very famous story that The Little Mermaid's statue was presented by him.

大雪地ビール館 Taisetu Local Beer Brewery

今日は大雪地ビール館へ仕事仲間と行きました。
前回出張時に気になっていたところで、現地の方々に、この場所を設定頂きました。
レンガ造りのいかにも北海道と思わせる作りのお店で、4種類の地ビール(ケラ・ビルカ、大雪ピルスナー、萌芽、富良野大麦）のお試しセットを試飲後、おいしいソーセージとチーズでピルスナーをいただきました。

I went to Taisetu Local Beer Brewery Restaurant with co-workers in this evening. I actually wanted to go there when it was the last biz trip. It is the building made of bricks. First of all, I tried "trial set" which consist of 4 kinds of beer, Kera Birka (ale), Taisetu Pils, MOEGA (seasonal wheat beer) and Furano Barley beer. All was actually nice and smooth to drink. Then enjoyed Taisetu Pils with sausages and local cheese.:-)

NAT Expressen from Denmark

フュン島西端の町アッセンスの地ビールです。
NAT Expressenは寝台特急という意。なぜこの名前かは不明ですが・・・。
マホガニー色の濃色ビールで、香ばしい香りがあり、炭酸も強く、いい印象を持ちました。


Vestfyen is a local brewery located in Assens where is west side of Fyn island.
Although NAT Expressen means Night Express in Danish, I'm not sure why it is named so.
Anyway, the taste is attractive and good beer for me.

Økologisk from Denmark

見慣れないアルファベットが登場しましたが、これでエコロジスクと読みます。オーガニック（有機栽培の）という意味で、原料にこだわったデンマークユトランド半島の北端にあるティステ（Thisted）の地ビールですが、現在はヴィボー（Virborg）に居を構えています。
私はこの3種のビールを試しましたが、3つ目のHumle（デンマーク語でホップという意）が炭酸も強く、バランスが取れた味で良いと記録しています。
残念がら日本ではまだお目にかかれないビールです。


Økologisk means Organic in Danish and the brewery from Thisted where is the city in the north of Jutland.
I prefer Humel to another 2 ones as strong carbonation and good balanced taste.
Unfortunately, not sales yet in Japan.

Bornholmer Bryg Classic from Denmark

さて、デンマークです。かつて数年住んでいたこともあり、結構レアな地ビールに出会うことができ、105種類トライできました。デンマーク人もドイツ、ベルギー、チェコに負けないほどビールが好きです。消費されるアルコール飲料の90％はビールだそうです。

デンマークビールは全体的にラベルは暗い色調の物が多く、Showyではないです。Royal CopenhagenやGeorg Jensenを有する同じデンマークとは思えないほど、”地味”です。

デンマークのビールと言えば、CarlsbergやTuborg（Carsbergの傘下ですが・・・）が有名ですが、私はこのビール、ボルンホルマー　クラシックがデンマークでは一番と思います。

ブラウンビールで泡と薫り豊かなコクのある味で、飲みごたえありでした。ラベルには5～8℃に冷やして飲むよう記述がありました。

スーパーや酒屋には売っていなくて、有機栽培の食材を販売するお店にあった記憶があります。


The next country is Denmark. I could try 105 kinds of Danish beers as I had lived in Denmark for 2 years. Likewise German, Belgian, Czechs, Danish also go for beers and 90% of consumed alcohol drink is beer!
Unlike Royal Copenhagen and George Jensen, the design of beer label is not so attractive and colourful.
Talking of Danish beer, Carlberg and Tuborg are very famous brand, but I think Bornholmer Bryg Classic is the best one in Denmark.

Radesgast from Czech Republic

チェコでは歴史の浅いビールです（1970年設立）。
チェコの神様に因んで名づけられたビールです。その名前は
"人生はほろ苦い、神に感謝"というビールならではのチェコの言い回しに由来します。
私がチェコで購入したのはなんとそのノンアルコールビールでした。
日本では入手できないブランドです。いつかこのブランドのビールが飲めたら・・・。
さて、私のチェコのビールのコレクションはこれでおしまい。次回からデンマークになります。


Radegast is a Czech beer brewed since 1970. The beer is named after the god Radegast. Stemming from the name for the beer is the slogan "Life is bitter, Thanks God" (in refererence to the neer's "bitter" taste.
By the way, my Czech beer collection is that's all, then the next beer is from Denmark!

透明感ある金色のビールで飲みやすいと記録しています。


Vratislav is a majour traditional brewery in north Bohemia. Although it is Czechs beer, I found out it in UK. Therefore "This brand is brewed for TESCO exclusive." on the label.

チェコ東部のモラヴィア地方の鉱山都市オストラヴァの地ビールです。このオストラヴァ醸造所は設立時（1897年）、ドイツ系列傘下の醸造所に対抗して設立されました。よって、そのビールの醸造法は極秘で未だにマル秘扱いされているそうです。


It is a local beer in Ostrava where is mining town in Moravia. The brewery was established by Czechs in 1897 to rival another breweries controlled by German. Therefore the recipe has been top secret until now.

チェコのビールとしてはアルコール度数も程々にあり、何よりも、チェコビールは水のように薄いイメージを持ちつつあった私にひさびさにうまいなあと思わせるビールでした。
サイトを見ても数々の賞を受賞しています。納得。


Although I intend to have impression of Czech's beer, i.e. pale and smooth to drink like water, the beer, Rebel broke the impression because of the bitterness and strong carbonation. Needless to say, according to the website, the beer awarded lots of prize.
