Grolsch from The Netherlands

オランダのビールといえば、ハイネケンが有名ですが、ご当地では高級ビールとして人気高いのがこのグロールシュです。設立は1615年ですのでオランダ国内でもかなり古く歴史ある醸造所です。グロールシュは世界に向けての販売も積極的ですが、オランダ国内販売用は茶色のボトル、輸出用は緑色のボトルで分けています。
様々な種類がありますが、私が一番感銘受けたのはヘット・カノン（大砲）です。その名の通りアルコール度数は11.6％！
オランダ駐在当初、まだビールにハマる前、街中の広告デザインの良さ、そして、キンキンに冷やして飲むラガーしか知らなかった私にビールの世界をノックさせたのがこれです。

Talking of Dutch beer, Heineken may be the most popular and well-known brand. But according to Dutch people, talking of high quality beer brand, it is Grolsch, which is one of the oldest brewery in The Netherlands.
Now, Grolsch is well-known world widely and the brewery is positive to export to many countries, more than 50 countries in the world. It can be recognized that Brown colour bottles for Dutch domestic use and Green colour bottles for export use.
There are several kinds of beer style in Grolsch and my most favorite is Het Kanon, which means The Canon in English. It is 11.6% alcohol with fruity flavour. I thought beer is lager type only at that time but thanks to Het Kanon, I could knock on and open the door of beer world!

I found out the ad in the town in Dec. 2003, and I tried it because the ad was very nice performance. It is a little bit fruity taste and also good balanced taste.

Craft Select by Suntory from Japan 3

サントリーのクラフトセレクションの第3弾で10月にピンで販売されたザ・パンプキンです。

上品な色のアルミ缶で期待しながらグラスに注ぐときれいな透明感あるブラウンカラーで、グラスをまわすと甘い香りがします。程よい炭酸加減でいいのですが、この甘さはカボチャというよりは栗に近い印象を持ったのは私だけか？
10月のハロウィーン前に秋味のこんなビールがあってもいいのかなとも思いました。
かつてアメリカでは穀物がたっぷりなかった時代には主産物で糖分あるカボチャでビールを醸造していました。アメリカ人にとってパンプキンエールは魂のビールではないでしょうか？
次回はインペリアルスタウトとゴールデンエールとのこと。11月が待ち遠しいです。

Beautiful crystal brown coloured beer with sweet taste and aroma. If anything, it is not Pumpkin but Chest nuts, anyway. It is craft beer by Suntory and limited brewing as vol.5.

Amsterdams Blond from The Netherlands

ユニークなボトルのアムステルダム　ブロンドは今やグルッペナーの傘下ですが、トライした当時（2003年）はアムステルダムのクラフトビールでした。まだ、ビールにハマって間もないころで成分チェックしていなかったですが、記録より甘い印象が強く、アルコール度数も8.5％と高いので、何かしら糖分を付加していたのではないかと思います。

Amsterdams Blond is under the umbrella of Gulpener Group but it was local brewery in Amsterdam and the bottle shape is quite unique and eye catcher.

Brouwerij 'tIJ from The Netherlands

オランダ語特有のアルファベットにijがあります。発音はアイで、またＩｊとはオランダ語で「ダチョウの卵」の意味があります。このアイ醸造所はアムステルダムの港にある銭湯を改装して作られたパブ併設の醸造所です。オランダでは有名なのではないかと思いますが、シンガーソングライターのカスパー・ピーターソンによって開かれ、自分がここで醸造所を開くまではアムステルダムはビール砂漠であったと言い放ち、ラベルにもこだわりのデザインが垣間見えます。パブの開店時間も水曜日から日曜日の午後3時から8時までと変にこだわっています。

't IJ was founded in 1984 in a converted bathhouse in the city's dockland by songwriter Kasper Peterson. IJ is the waterway fronts of Amsterdam harbour and the pronunciation is IJ is "ay". It is virtually identical to the Dutch for egg, which explains the ostrich and an egg on the pub sign. In the sign's background, a windmill standing in a desert suggests that Amsterdam was beer desert until Kasper started to brew.

 Its brewery tap only opens from 15:00 to 20:00 from Wednesday to Sunday but, all of the beers regularly on draught. It's a golden opportunity to sample beers which are all too hard to find elsewhere. To add the fun, the bar has collection of 2,000 empty beer bottles from all over the world. Food is limited to drinkers' snacks, but children are welcome and there are selection of board games to keep them happy.
