Leffe from Belgium

これは日本でも有名なベルギービールです。修道院ビールの一種ですが、ナポレオン戦争以後醸造はせず、個人消費のためだけに地ビール醸造所で作っていました。その地ビール醸造所は大手醸造会社に引き継がれ、レフブランドとして強力なマーケティングで再生しました。

通常、同じ種類のビールは購入しなかったのですが、このレフについては、気に行っていたのか、4種類にトライしています。どれも個性的でおいしいビールです。

The Norbertine abbey of Leffe has not brewed since the Napoleonic wars. The brothers arranged for a local brewer to make beer for them. The brewery was taken over and the Leffe brands have ended up in the mighty marketing hands of Interbrew, which closed the last resting-place of Leffe at Brasserie St.-Guibert and now produces most of the range at its vast beer factory in Leuven.

It is dark mahogany coloured beer. Bitter and sweet taste.
